I’m a freelance journalist for Grazia and The Independent, and I’m The Pool’s parenting editor, with a weekly column and email called Up With The Kids.

Motherhood, honesty and mental health (with jokes) are my jam, although I occasionally spread my repertoire as far as racism and cheese (for Tatler and BuzzFeed, respectively). Most recently, I’ve branched out into beauty videos for The Pool, which is why I’m pictured here holding a lipstick like a simpleton.

I also write columns and features for ELLE, Cosmopolitan, and The Guardian, and in 2016 I was shortlisted for – but crucially didn’t win, and now I wonder why I mention it – a Words By Women award for lifestyle journalism.

In 2018, alongside Cherry Healey and Ariana Huffington, I contributed to The Freelance Mum, a book by the journalist Annie Ridout:

I had a series of essays published in Life Honestly: Strong Opinions from Smart Women – The Pool’s first book – which also featured writing by Dolly Alderton, Yomi Agedoke and Bryony Gordon:

And I wrote a chapter of Stylist Magazine’s Life Lessons from Remarkable Women:

Although a confirmed hermit, I do a bit of speaking and presenting here and there. I also co-host a sweary parenting podcast called The Naughty Step with my husband, the author and journalist Stuart Heritage.

I enjoy sweet coffee, sour wine, and the works of Donna Tartt and The Pixies; at the time of writing this I’m inexplicably addicted to watching Riverdale; and if you’ve had a brush with the paranormal, boy do I want to hear about it.

I live in semi-rural Kent with Stuart, our two small sons, and a great deal of mess. I am working on a book and my posture.
